Currently operating my own business providing consulting advice specifically on Health and Safety and ACC management, including ACC audits, Health and Safety compliance reviews, consulting advice, and training – covering legal responsibilities, governance, management processes, hazard management, incident investigation, contractor control etc.  During this time providing assistance and advice to a large range of organisations in New Zealand and Australia,  including: Central Government agencies, Local government organisations, large private business operations, as well as small businesses.  This has included the need to be involved at all levels within the organisation, and provide training etc to personnel including senior management, front line supervisors and employees.

National Loss Control Manager

Responsible for the Loss Control Advisers within the privatised Accident Insurer, providing injury prevention and management advice to clients of the Insurer.  Developing programmes for clients and carrying out audits and assessments of systems, training and injury prevention initiatives.  Changes to the ACC legislation meant that the private accident insurance market closed.

Aon Risk Services

Health and Safety and ACC Consultant

Carried out training, advice and consulting for Aon clients within the Business Risk Consulting Division.  This included assisting clients to work towards entering the ACC Accredited Employer Programme by auditing and developing systems to meet the entry criteria.

EMA Central/ Wellington Regional Employers’ Association

Health and Safety Consultant

Providing services to client organisations of the Association on Health and Safety, ACC, and related legislation.

Carrying out audits of OHS management systems and procedures, developing and assisting with implementation of new systems where necessary. Advice on the practical implications of ACC for employers, including preparation of cases and representation at ACC Review Hearings.

Training sessions were also provided to member companies, on a variety of topics relating to health and safety.


I’ve always been interested in the sciences – my education has focused on this aspect and developed into a key interest in Health and Safety

Post-graduate Diploma in Safety Management completed extra-murally over 3 years.  Subjects included Organisational Behaviour and Occupational Hygiene

Royal Society of Health Diploma for Public Health Inspectors

Formal qualification for role of statutory inspection covering Occupational Health, Food and Environmental issues
